Jeffrey Stackhouse
5 time award winning horror screenwriter

Gentlefolk,

I've been honored to win The PAGE, Shriekfest and FilmQuest amongst my five Wins, and have another 23 Finalists on my 7 scripts from about 32 submissions. I write generally in the $1 - 5M range, almost always with collaborators, because I love the resonance that happens with a good team.

Way to go!! Horrors are the bomb! I bets it's fun to write them. I can write thrillers, but not horrors, oddly enough. Rock on, and thanks for the inspirational point at the end there~~

Horror Screenwriter; three awards, two kids. Strange you can believe in.

Hey. I'm a multi-award-winning screenwriter including The PAGE, and with 16 Finalists including Nicholl.

I work most often in collaboration, so I'm well suited to accepting changes that more focus a screenplay to your Audience Needs. I have 2 options and just had a fully-authorized Stephen King Shor...

Jeffrey, is an honor, Sir. Congratulations on all your success and welcome to the S32 family.

Kind Gentlefolk, and new in my Network: I'm never here, sorry. I found most of the discussions to be self-aggrandizing, so I went onto Facebook and co-created a Closed Group of over 100 Industry folk (Producers, directors, musicians, screenwriters, novelists) most award-winners, where we're strictly...

Keeds and keeds-at-heart. I haven't been on the site for a bit, and it will be a short while before I'm back. Some of the screenwriters' discussions became odd little "hey, I know a poster asked for support, but let me tell you why tough love is better" cyclical self-aggrandizements, and I got tired...

2014 has not been good for me in screenwriting contests. Nicholls - Zilch, Final Draft Big Break - NADA, Stage32 New Blood List - NOTHING. I do feel a slight footprint on my ego. I agree with lots of folks here. Winning contests help you get read. They look great on your resume. They give an ego boost. You get money and prizes. They don't equate to sales. Losing them doesn't m...

Critique by Agustine Caldron

Wow, what an amazing community Stage 32 is. I've received some fabulous notes from Agustine Caldron and I can't wait to do my rewrite. His notes were insightful, practical and will give my characters the extra depth they need. I can't believe I've had access to his brilliant brain! On another wonder...

Oooh, I'm also involved in a group screenwriting project which will be filmed in Canada later this year - I hope! That one's a murder mystery tentatively called Childish Things. My others are comedies.

And to reply to your previous question, I was thanking Jeffrey and Joey for their comments. Agustine gave me FABULOUS notes, really helpful. I've almost finished the rewrite. Just tweaking it now.

Wendy, I love success stories and on the cusp success stories - you appear to be on the rise and I congratulate, you - pleased to have someone such as yourself on this site, best of luck, keep making posts.

Agents

Is it important to have an Agent? I'm a self published author of two books, and I'm giving scriptwriting a go. So far, all I've got back from Agents is that they're not taking on any new clients. Most companies will not except any unsolicited work from people. I am desperately trying to turn my passion for writing into a career.

Mary Gulivindala

Hi everyone. Danny, the person posting said he can't get anyone TO LOOK AT HIS work. You said agents are always looking for new talent and it depends on the quality of content. BUT AGENTS WONT LOOK. I...

Thanks so much, Dan. I was thinking along those lines. My only thought was that if I had someone develop a screenplay as I was writing the book, we could hit the ground running on the off-chance that it ever sold. I was also thinking more in terms of an indy film than a Hollywood blockbuster.

I do appreciate that we can make new folders, now, and I'm sure as I become more familiar with it, I'll be able to manipulate the template more easily.
