Expand commentI went to meet with an animation producer in Hyderabad on a very ambitious animation feature that will need several co-producers in Asia, Europe & the Americas. A dear fellow I met, who had been first A.D. on Attenborough's Gandhi, set up appointments with many of India's majors in Mumbai in search of a co-producer for SURPANAKA, but it all came to naught, as they'd say in London. This one is a comedic thriller bordering on a musical. It was inspired by Surphanaka, the little known demon from Indian mythology who killed young men with poisonous lactic spray from her seductive bosom. I was blown away by the traffic in India, especially the rickshaws, and added a song to the film inspired by this traffic. Instead of writing original music, I'm using a jazz arrangement of the old classic "Chopsticks" for background to a recitation with an Indian accent - I'm counting on this one to steal the whole film. Check it out. Beep, Beep, Honk, Honk ! Indian traffic always takes lots of guts, make no mistakes Gotta keep going, going, going, If you get stalled you won't need towing, All that mass will move you on; If you don't go, you'll find you've gone Rickshaw drivers, buses, trucks, camels, donkeys, even ducks, Mopeds, bikes and scooters zoom; Holy cows take lots of room Beep, beep, beep and honk, honk, honk, Hey look out, oh, no! Kerplonk Now elephants and camels and big, fat smelly buffalo And tropic heat and drivers all sweating huff and puff-alo Create a fragrance mix so rare, so thick, unique, no one would dare to take a breath, to breathe it in; They just turn blue and grin. In Calcutta or Bombay, in New Delhi any day Traffic's indescribable but drivers oft revive-able How do they do it? How they move? Elbow to elbow in the groove! There's a rickshaw pulling a stork!!! Oh, my God, worse than New York! Beep, beep, beep and honk, honk, honk... Kerzoom, kerplow, kerplonk! I have a bad habit of putting projects aside and developing new ones if the first one doesn't get funded fast enough. This has left me with an inventory of quite a few un-produced scripts. Now with China a big factor, I've revised some of the earlier ones to also be suitable for China and in Surpanaka it was simply a casting change which suddenly made it all the more vital, somehow. The story has three college girls from Canada fly to India to surprise their boyfriends who went there on an archaeological dig. One of them is an all-American, wisecracking type who grew up in California but was born in India and also speaks Hindi. One is Canadian and the third, "Phoebe" (with the phobias) was originally American. I've now made her a Chinese exchange student and if we find a young Chinese actress with a bit of talent, she'll steal the show since the role is so rich - she is comical and a real character but in the end, she transforms into a heroic gal who confronts the demon and saves the day. What's your story, Amigo? Cuéntame sobre ti.
That is quite a story Andy, thanks for sharing! Let's talk further in chat

Expand commentHello Erik. Thanks for accepting my invitation. My writing is romantic in nature with somewhat of a paranormal twist. It has to do with visions that two people have of each other and the love that develops from these visions. I am currently writing a screenplay about it. It is based on my two books.
Bien, Erik. Y tu? Surprised to see espanol coming from the Netherlands. Here's to great things for all your projects.
Spain is closer to the Netherlands, than the USA is..I think it's still the most popular country for us here up North(English weather too around here) to spend the hollidays...for me too. Thx for the add.
I saw it,I remembered the scene with Mike in the Park.Nice twist at the end
