About Michael

The youngest of 4 children, Michael recalls spending his early years alone in his room creating stories with his toy Dinosaurs and Cars. Michael discovered at an early age that writing, art and music provided an avenue for his creative self to flourish. He later became a percussionist, won art awards and excelled in creative writing classes.

Continuing to hone in on his skills as a writer, Michael submitted his works to various screenwriting competitions. Just this year in 2017, he placed as a Quarter-Finalist in the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting Competition for an original Animated Feature. He's also placed in the ScreenCraft Pilot Launch Competition as a Semi-Finalist in 2014, and again as a Quarter-Finalist in the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting Competition with another Animated Feature co-written with his writing partner, Jeannette Lara, in 2016

When it comes to writing, Michael focuses on stories that are grounded in heart, but leavened throughout with comedy. His love for sci-fi and fantasy allows his imagination to perfectly craft worlds and narratives intended for an audience seeking to escape from reality, laugh a little and maybe shed a tear or two. Some of his greatest influences are Looney Tunes, Tron, Adventure Time, and everything Star Wars!
