For me, it was Raiders of the Lost Ark. To me, it is a perfect screenplay and a perfect movie. No need to debate that here. ;) But tell me what was yours?

I have another horror thriller called The Willing that's part The Grey and part the Stanford Experiment Prison Experiment story that take place on an abandoned military base in New Mexico. That one is a fairly big cast and lots of FX.
I was thinking of writing a series about the Stuart kings. Then I thought it might be too like The Tudors.

Expand commentShadowlands is an epic. It's a tentpole sc-fi western. First screenplay is part of a trilogy that introduces us to the edges of space known at the Shadowlands, to a being known as a Shadowman and some unlikely heroes fighting against forces much larger than they realize. It's large in scope and universe to the degree that multiple stories could be written and told about the Shadowlands. Film, Series, Comics, etc. and of course Merchandising.
Now I just gotta finish this new second (or is it third) rewrite.
Glad everyone has an epic in mind or in the works. I have one also. It's called Liberty One and it is a Space Adventure.
Id like to discuss this with someone who has actually done this, as I have been denied and know why, but id like to see how you do it without giving away so much of your company .. and how you deal with the investors after the first film and returns etc?
Thanks!
The rules have changed for SEIS. You now have to have your investors lined up before you apply. This is counterintuitive. I suspect this may also be the case with EIS.

The rules for EIS changed in March, we met with our accountants and found that SEIS has not changed. We received our Advanced Assurance from HMRC and it was very straight forward.
I am aware of the changes, but is there a way of doing it without giving away a big portion of your brand, or for EIS thats it really and the only way to do it?
Seems bizarre to have your investors lined up before AA - because you need that to approach investors lol.

Best fortunes in your creative endeavors, Jason!

Expand commentI had no intention of working in films, but when I was asked to interview Andy Cheng for a magazine, we became friends and about four years later he asked if I'd ever written a screenplay. I have always loved watching movies and so I had played around with turning some fiction I had written into scripts but I had not done it seriously. He gave me a script to re-write and liked what I did with it enough to tell me that he would love to have me as his writing partner. So far we have one film together, written for Johnny Martin (DELIRIUM) and Johnny has since hired me to write others that have yet to go into production. Andy and I are working on another that he will direct himself and already has a BAFTA winning actor signed on and partial funding before we've even finished the screenplay!

None. I enjoy the technical aspects of filmmaking. The only saving grace for some films is the extra material like "The making of...".

Expand commentIt is hard for me to pick just one film that got me interested. If I had to limit it down I could possible do one movie, one series, and one person. Charlie Chaplin would be my person. The movie series would be Halloween. Then the one movie might be Pulp Fiction. Three complete different time frames and genres. Now I would have to say who I am most inspired by is Jordan Peele. I love horror movies and he is creating a whole different perspective in that genre and I would love to help pave that road.
