Hi Jax! I am writing in New York City. I have a few projects I am working on at the same time. I am honing my skills to move up the ladder. What about you?

I am writing stories that represent the Caribbean-American experience. Most people are not aware of the four different linguistic groups of people in the Caribbean region. It has been my experience that some people from the region do not know their neighbors. I intend to change that through my work. At one time in history, the Caribbean region was the center of European wars. October 13, 2014 is Christoper Columbus Day.

Michael, it's okay! At least you get to know something about St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Most people always assume that I am from Jamaica. Jamaica's capital is Kingston. St. Vincent's capital is Kingstown. Once I sent some money to St. Vincent via Western Union and the lady sent the money to Kingston, Jamaica. I typed Kingstown, St. Vincent on the form and this mistake forced me to call Western Union's headquarters. I told them that they need to teach their employees Geography because they are not trained.

There are good schools elsewhere around the world, too. The University of the West Indies with its three major campuses in Jamaica, Trinidad and Barbados have produced many great scholars. The US have great universities and they have produced great students. America is great at second chances for people who had missed the boat educationally. They can go back to school and learn the basics if they are willing to improve themselves. Some people are just too lazy to spend the time to improve their lives. Others who are willing to learn are stuck in dead-end jobs, so they are unable to go back to school. Time is against them. It is a vicious cycle for some people. However, I have met some people in this country who had to step back and took notice that I knew more than them. They had all kinds of questions for me. In this country, most of the time, people are judged by the color of their skin. I have used my writing skills to keep people in check on many occasions when I was provoked. Writing is one of the best weapons we have at our disposal.

Michael, I am not from Jamaica! There are more English-speaking islands in the Eastern Caribbean. I am from St. Vincent & the Grenadines. St. Vincent has one of the oldest Botanical Gardens in the Western Hemisphere. It was established in 1765 before America became a nation. In addition, we have one of the most studied volcano in the world.

Michael, Obama is not the problem in my opinion. This problem has been brewing long before he took office. I am fortunate enough to look at this problems with two sets of lenses. One being a person who has been paying close attention to the politics of this country, and two having seen and experienced all of the isms and scisims, I know how to be real with the truth. America's financial problems goes back as far as the Nixon's Administration. My writing abilities have to take me to my financial freedom. I am going to make it to the top. I got an excellent education before I came to America. The British government surely invested in the education of students who were bright because its objective was to get the best civil servants at that time. I am one of the benefactors of that system of education. Just think about America's quick fix mentality. I love America and we all need to see better approaches to handling its major problems.

Michael, you need to get active and start writing to your local, state, and federal politicians. You have to start writing about things that are meaningful to you. Put them on notice! Between both parties, we have six of one and half a dozen of the next. They are all the same. There is a Calypso, "Who is Going to Guard the Guards?"

You're certainly not "short" on great advice to all of us Stephen. I can just imagine the twinkle you get in your eye, when you advise: "Never give up!" I won't, though I'm getting too long in the tooth for that lead stage role I always wanted! With most stage and vocal music work behind me, am working hard on screen and stage plays, I'll never give up either!

It's nice to have a forum to ask questions of so many talented and experienced people from around the world. My post for today regards formatting of screenplays. I'm aware that this factor is extremely important, however, due to my 20 years of experience as a freelancer and editor for several east-coast (USA) publishers...it really FROSTS me to have to spend a bunch of money to purchase specialty word-processing software just to format my screenplays. Anyone interested in offering opinions, ideas, links to useful resources, links to resources that explain the expected formatting rules?
