I'm a published children's book author. Currently, I have blinders on and am focused on getting book sales. But, who knows? Perhaps with proper networking on Stage 32 someone may be interested in adapting it to film or something else? Please check out my page for info.
Eric, congratulations on the book! We have so many amazing authors on here who have done incredible independently publishing. Make sure to chat with Lee Jessup, Dean Silvers, Nicola Italia, Lane Shefter Bishop, and the list goes on. Looking forward to you contributing in the lounge as well!
I'm a novelist whose first published work is a squeaky clean YA fantasy, written to be an antithesis to all the violence and depravity that is overwhelming our entertainment culture. I'll probably not see as much success as, say, George RR Martin, but hey, at least I tried!! http://wericmyers.com...

How do you get inspiration for your book writing ideas? Do you do research? Do you brainstorm officially or subliminally {like, in the shower}? Do you have an official process or an informal process??
Having a really crumby job actually helps force me to imagine the scenes in my head that I then transpose to a little notepad I keep in my pocket. I'm anxious to be able to quit the job and see if being lazy around the house is equally effective!!
I like science and research theoretical science books for ideas. It's amazing how my brain goes into a 'what if'' mode and ideas flow one after another. I think "write what you know" is a good mantra....

I think "write what you know" is a good mantra. When I get writers block, I hike a mountain all day. I find it's a good place to compose and get off my rump. I currently have a trilogy posted on Amazon's Kindly Library. I hope this was helpful.
I just start writing a letter to myself and see where it goes. The first thousand words are normally junk but then something else takes over.

However, getting juices flowing can be helped by getting the energy flowing like going for walks in your area, traveling, listening to music you like and even just doing something silly to name a few. It's a matter of getting the ego to be put aside so we can be more creative. We are all creative beings but some ego is challenge to overcome.
Sometime I think, or don't think, better at a bar or the library. Bring the laptop and whirl away.
