I began doing movie background work and at the end of the 20th century moved to Los Angeles.
I'm a member of the Hollywood based film collective We Make Movies. I began getting back into writing. I like short form films; I'd written several recent ones a few years earlier, and had them workshopped.
A year or two later, I submitted to their second script competition one of my dark comedy scripts, "Bucky," which was not only one of the four winners, it received the most votes.
With a bare-bones $1500 budget, we filmed "Bucky" in a single night (with me as director, as well as the voice of its title role). Once completed I began submitting "Bucky" to film festivals, publicly premiering not only at the Hollywood Chinese Theatres, but it won at that first festival, and since has won 46 awards (out of 296 festivals).
It's scheduled for public viewing 02 February on my realbadger YouTube channel.
I also began submitting to festivals a handful of my unproduced short film scripts, each and all of which have won numerous awards.
I'd love to be able to fund and have them all filmed.
I'm also fascinated by the paranormal; apart from paranormal investigating when possible, I cohost a weekly online radio show The Paranormal View at para-x dot com Saturdays 5-7pm Pacific time, 8-10 eastern: I post the shows on The Paranormal View YouTube channel (the current one; we had one which only has a handful of shows: it's still there, we just use the new one I created).

You can find me on imdb, on twitter at realbadger (currently 8660+ Followers, and [due my activity], average acquiring about 125+ legit new Followers per week). The google search term "geoffrey gould demo reel" will bring up my comedy-focused 85 second commercial sizzle reel on YouTube. While much of my work has been general to Very Featured background (I have a commercial agent and still seeking TV/Theatrical representation), my principal work has included a Superbowl spot (as an ostrich-chased postman), a Day Player gig on "The Practice" (with Sharon Stone running her fingers through my hair), and close to 200 various student films (USC, LA Film School, NY Film Academy, UCLA, et al). I solo-voiced the short "The Pride of Strathmoor" (now viewable on Vimeo), which won 2015 Slamdance's Jury Award for Best Animated Short. I also recently starred in the indie feature film "Everything," now in post production. To my amusement, the production even created a wikipedia entry for/on me. I also write short films (mostly comedies), which have been well received with the L.A. based actor-writer-filmmaker collective We Make Movies; for one script the actors liked it so much we're filming it in January. [If that shoot goes well, I am hoping the crew involved will assist in another short of mine, which has its cast attached...] I love being/working on set. I'm very directable and love promoting productions on which I've worked: I do comedy (dry, cerebral, to slapstick and low-brow), drama, intense dark roles, etc., and I hope I can be of service to your upcoming projects...!

I also did numerous shows with Livingston Community Players. Where in L.A. are you? I'm in Hollywood. As a screenwriter, you might want to check out We Make Movies' free Wednesday night events, including but not limited to script table-read nights (after the actors do the reading, the writer gets audience feedback from other writers, film makers, actors, et al).
Cool.

Emma Thompson was robbed as PL Traver's in "Saving Mr. Banks" (as was the film itself: its production design, both 1960s and late 1800s wardrobe, Tom Hanks, et al). Amy Adams was good in "American Hustle" (a film I also enjoyed tremendously), but hers was nothing compared to Emma Thompson.
Wow.
That's right, Meryl. THAT'S how you snatch a wig!!!! Yea, I'm not surprised this came out. Walt was LEGENDARY for being a racist - you can see it in his cartoons. SONG OF THE SOUTH, MUCH?! No. Didn't think so...SMH

Expand commentFinally saw American Hustle. Geoffrey, I still agree. Agreed, Hustle is wicked good, and Amy Adams is mesmerizing! She pulled off a deeply layered character with grit and charm. That said, for me, her performance doesn't trump Ms. Thompson's. From the feedback I've heard, the fly in Ms. Adam's Oscar soup was perhaps the film itself- with its cock-eyed view of the world. Textbook David O. Russell, he calls it like he sees it; in doing so, he presents t/his world "the way it is": "Gray." That said, it was a little disconcerting to see a gifted actor whose chest upstages her face in virtually every scene. Even that played second fiddle to The Comb-over. Christian Bale's rug deserved it's own statue! Given the lead characters who occupy Ground Zero in Russell's world of selfish, despicable people, I suspect a lot of folks found it difficult to connect with either of them on any level. Precious few women admit they liked it (to date, I've met one, besides myself.) At the end of the day the good guys are even more despicable than the bad guys, "feet up"; meanwhile lovely Jennifer Lawrence gets to play it crazy... again. Only this time, she's a mom... with a small child, who is clearly an afterthought from all sides, despite copious protestations to the contrary. Is it possible that Americans, infatuated with motherhood, hold moms to a slightly higher standard? Or could it be that we have a real problem looking into Russell's proverbial mirror? The artists' view is, after all, a long one. As much as I enjoyed the film, I rejected the future as "hopeful" in favor of "I guess this is as good as it gets." It is just a movie, after all. Who cares if Irving and his Sybil-of-choice Sydney went legit? Or if things worked out for Rosalyn, the firebug? Suffice it to say, I did not fall asleep thinking about any of them. Instead, my heart flew to little Danny. For me, it was a real stretch to forgo his parents' past lives and believe in a bright future for the kiddo- torn between two nut-jobs, with whom he's doomed to split holidays and every other weekend. Crikey! It's a vision that makes LiLo's (public) life look pretty stable by comparison. For what it's worth, Ms. Thompson's turn as the "successful" adult child of an alcoholic dominated the field - on the grounds that she showed us that even the most unlovable among us are worthy of empathy and compassion. As for me, I woke up humming Mary Poppins' tunes the next day. Not necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps some inventive filmmaker will pop in on a Danny at some point in the future. That could be truly interesting. Just my two. Had no idea I had so much to say! Thanks for allowing me this space to share it. :)
Thanks.
Hey Geoffrey, just pushed an update that should fix that. It should be live shortly and available as an update on Google Play.

Expand postGreetings all! Geoff Gould here; lifelong character actor, growing up on stage back east from comedy and drama adult productions, to slapstick and prattfall filled comedy for kids' audiences. While I'm an actor whose done extensive background work in features and TV, I've done 150+ student films with USC, LA Film School, NY Film Academy, UCLA, etc., as well as a Day Play contract role for an episode of the final season of "The Practice" (in which Sharon Stone runs her fingers through my hair), as well as a few speaking principal gigs: one for a 2009 Super Bowl spot for Pedigree where as a postman, I am pursued by an ostrich, another as the lead for a McDonalds regional, and another as a lead for a director's reel "but" handled as though it was an official commercial gig. I've also done several non-speaking principal commercial bookings, but would love to do more, as well as for TV and theatricals. I've a habit of being 30+ minutes early for shoots, auditions and interviews, and have nothing but patience between set-ups, lengthy or otherwise. To me the Story is the Star, so I put aside what ego I may have to do the best I can so the directors' and producers' vision is what is on the screen. I hope I can be of service to what projects would be best suited for my talents and experience.
Just an idea: Let us start this 'WHAT IS YOUR 2014 PROJECT' topic -and go for a long list- so that others can read what is coming and join, help or colaborate if possible. I'll post two projects to kick off. What are yours?

After starting work on movies and TV, I moved to Los Angeles in the late 1990s, was somewhat quickly Taft Hartley-ed booking my first national commercial, and I have starred or been featured in various commercials including but not limited to a 2009 Super Bowl spot for Pedigree in which I played the ostrich pursued mailman. I've worked on about 150 student films for USC, LA Film School, UCLA, NY Film Academy, etc.; my work ethic with acting being to having the directors'/producers' vision be what's on the screen. My demo reel/s are at my geoffgould.net website. While I have a commercial agent (currently I still do not yet have TV/Theatrical representation), in late 2013 possibly into early 2014 I will be starring in an independent feature film being shot out in Missouri and London England. I hope I can be of service to what project roles my comic-to-dark range is best suited.
