About Michael

Formerly Macintosh Systems Engineer at Pixar Animation Studios from 1991 - 1997. Crew on the Original Toy Story. One of several hundred amazing people who helped bring that film to the screen. Was also Lead Macintosh, PC & Unix RenderMan Support at that time for the Pixar products on all 3 platforms. Supported teams at Disney and other studios in overcoming issues with rendering of film frames. Have been out of that segment of the business for quite sometime, but remember being in it at the beginning.

Supported Disney with Beauty & The Beast ballroom scene lighting/rendering issues, rendering image size issues with the flying carpet cave scene in Aladdin, the wildebeest stampede scene shadow rendering problems in The Lion King. Worked closely with their teams to resolve these issues in a timely fashion and achieve a finished rendered product so that their films could release on time.

Responsible for supporting all Macintosh computer systems used during the production of Toy Story. This included everything from pencil testing, to textures, sound, to finance, to production management. More than 350 systems were used during the 4 years it took to make that film.

I hold the single credit line of: macintosh systems engineer michael e. murdock in Toy Story.

Unique traits: Have been told since 1979 that I resemble Robin Williams and for years have been able to make people laugh with impressions of him.
