Added a Sony FS100

I recently added a Sony FS100 super 35mm camera to my arsenal of production equipment. I love this camera! The super35 sensor is so much nicer to work with

Stage 32 Staff - Julie

That's a great shot! Congratulations. What was the first thing you filmmed with it?

Dual Screen Setup

I finally got around to setting up a dual screen editing station. It makes it so much easier to see what is going on with the 22" preview monitor vs. the old 4" preview that was on the laptop screen. I use a MacBook Pro and edit with FCPX along with a few plug-ins.

Is FCP really?

Hello everyone, lately I've heard so much that FCP is out as a professional editing suite, I still use FCP 7, I've been using FCP since 2005. A colorist and editor friend of mine tells me to switch to the latest FCP X, but lately in different threads here on stage32 I've read that Adobe Premiere is...

Rafael - No, Premiere Pro (and Sony Vegas and other NLEs) have had the capacity to handle different file codecs, aspect ratios, SD and HD; on the one timeline (or sequence) for many, many years. No need for transcoding or file rewrapping.

Rafael Pinero

Wow that's excellent

Alex Ferrari

I'm really liking the new Davinci Resolve 12. It has an amazing editing package included for FREE. Give it a try!

I use FCPX and love it. It represents the future of editing. Read about Michael Matzdorff's experience working on the post team for the feature Focus. He wrote a ebook on the workflow and says that it...

I use FCPX all the time. Great software and fast, even on a MacBook PRO with Multi Cam.

A new vampire show with a twist

Here is the next project I am really excited to be working on. I will be the DP for it. Who doesn't love a good vampire story. The title is pronounced like "True-Six". To keep up to date on the films progress and see some BTS shots LIKE it and share it! It will be shot in various parts of Dallas,Pla...

Although I'm pretty sure it's impossible now, I think you should change the title. True Blood comes to mind. If you want to be original I would advise distancing yourself as much as possible from the other vampire shows. But I'm sure you weren't involved in that process.

Converting an old computer monitor into a small green screen :)

Ok I took that old computer monitor that I was talking about a few days ago and ended up painting it. I converted it to a small green screen monitor that I can use to display anything on it. It will make a great prop to be used to show make it look like someone is working on an actual computer or an...

A quick look at my GH2 with the new Tascam DR60D Mk2

Revised video: Here is a quick video showing how I have my camera setup with the new Tascam DR60D Mk2 that I just bought and the rechargeable external power supply. I love this setup and it lets me records for hours on end now:) The monitor is not always on the camera like that. If you want me to re...

Derrick I plan on making a review on the DR60 Mk2 and on the FeelWorld monitor I'm using.

Great! Looking forward to it.

Derrick here is a short video I made about the DR60 Mk2 http://youtu.be/wXayQo3YlZ8

Looks like a nice efficient set up. Do you shoot with any of the GH-2 hacks? I suggest you get a wind screen for your lavaliere mic. How do you set up your audio configuration for hand held rig/ shoulder shooting?

Jeffrey Akers

IMHO I think the DR60's are a horrible design. I have one and mount it to the arm of my fluid head so it doesn't have an ill effect on my cinematography. Putting 3.5 to 4 inches of space(whatever it i...

Gearing up to shoot a comedy short film in December

I am proud to be working with and co-producing the short film "The Status Conference From Hell". It is a comedy about how social media has taken over everything including day to day operations in the court room. The entire cast is already selected. We will be shooting it in the Dallas, Tx area in mi...

Great low budget Microphone Kit

If your ever looking for a decent low budget mic for your productions I picked this 13 piece kit up a couple of weeks ago. I used it on a few shoots and I am pretty impressed with it's sound quality. I even compared it with a Rode NTG-2 and they are very close in sound quality. This is the kit I pic...

Good DSLR for HD video?

I'm using a consumer HD camcorder right now, and I want to step up but I also want to spend my money wisely. I'm looking for advice on a HD-capable DSLR (or "mirrorless" camera like this Sony: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/891514-REG/Sony_nex6_Alpha_NEX_6_D...) Obviously, if I had $50,000 to...

Nikon will likely be releasing the new D7200 this fall. That means the price of the D7100 will drop considerably-- probably around $600 for the body. It's no RED, but it's a solid step up. You could also go with a Black Magic 2.5K for under $2,000 or the 4K for around $3,000.

Royce Allen Dudley

Bit rate is a wee part of it. Color space, exposure latitude and resolution combined create the image qualities we perceive, and the Canon DSLRs do not have it ( but damn they look good on your smartp...
