Gregory Gallagher

Born in Montréal, Québec, Gregory is the winner of the StoryNet Documentary Film Challenge for his film project called “Legends of Magdalen” about the myths and legends of sunken treasure off the Magdalen Islands in the Gulf of St.Lawrence. Gregory is also the winner of the Story of the Year from the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO), and is currently developing and producing a transmedia series with the legendary Jean-Michel Cousteau based on his Ambassadors of the Environment curriculum for children.

One of the original Canadian writers of Sesame Street Television Show, Gregory is the author/photographer of the bestselling Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Montréal and Québec City (Penguin’s DK imprint in its 7th Printing), & Michelin MustSees Montreal & Quebec City, and the 500-pages of Michelin Green Guide Quebec, & Green Guide Canada.

Gregory writes for stellar clients led by National Geographic Society, Smithsonian Institute, Royal Canadian Geographical Society, Jane Goodall Institute, Virgin Airlines, Dreamscapes Magazine, Courrier International’s Ulysse Magazine (France), Asian Sources (Hong Kong), and is commissioned by an increasing number of corporate clients. Gregory has authored a large-format coffee-table marketing book for Grenadines Estate Villas (in partnership with Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Trump International Golf Club, American Airlines & Moorings), as well as the Minister of Tourism Québec golf campaign, and Côté Nord Tremblant Resort press materials.

Other corporate clients include speechwriting for the President/CEO of VIA Rail Canada, web content for Canadian National’s Office of the President, and commissioned works for P/S/L Group (international pharmaceutical news), JED New Media Inc. Gregory is the creative force behind the jazz documentary series “Universal Jazz,” fifteen one-hour shows chronicling the evolution of North America’s original art form. During the writing, researching, editing and narrating of this popular series for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) & radio-Canada International shortwave global serve, Gregory worked one-on-one with Quincy Jones, Lena Horne, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Max Roach, Oscar Peterson, Charles Mingus, Dexter Gordon, McCoy Tyner, and many more icons.

A resident of California for many years, Gregory worked as a contract saxophonist and flute player, as well as a feature film script reader with one of Hollywood’s oldest firms, The William Carroll Agency. Gregory is the Active-at-Large member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), is an Olympus America-sponsored photographer, and lives in the Latin Quarter of Montréal with his wife Linda Hart, a portrait artist.
