About Samantha

Australian-Singaporean Actress, Samantha Hum, has a zest for life that radiates to all around her and people are instantly drawn to her. Born and bred in Singapore, this dark haired Eurasian beauty of Australian and Chinese heritage fell in love with performing at a very young age. If she wasn’t singing, she was acting - you could never tear her too far away from her love of acting. She performed in at least one play a year and graduated as one of the top drama students in her school.

Even after graduating from University with a BA in Business and Mandarin, she still found herself being drawn towards the craft. Keeping the promise she made to herself when she graduated high school, she auditioned and was one of the 20 lucky students to be accepted into 16th Street Films - one of the best film conservatory training programs offered in Australia.

At this establishment she was exposed to the work of Uta Hagen, Lee Strasberg, Ivana Chubbuck and Mike Leigh, amongst others, and was led exclusively by acclaimed teachers who have studied under these masters. Being fortunate enough to have the guidance of teachers and mentors such as Kerry Armstrong, Noni Hazelhurst and Larry Moss, she has been able to hone her skills and build a solid foundation of acting techniques.

Samantha also has a strong love for singing and has a picturesque singing voice with a lovely range, and who can forget her affinity for accents.

Her innate sense of curiosity, strong attention to detail and hard-working attitude have led many to appreciate working with her and be keen to work with her again.

It is in the act of voyeurism, to be a storyteller, the ability to make someone feel something. To share the feeling of being loved, that heartbreak, that joke... That is what is exciting to me. In the words of Oscar Wilde: "I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being."

Unique traits: Hardworking. Curious. Personable. Loyal. Friendly. Creative.
