Mimi Steinberg

A native New Yorker, Mimi Steinberg is a graduate with a double major in History and Art History at Hobart & William Smith Colleges, polished her literary skills at Playwrights Horizons, and studied filmmaking at NYU.

Her body of work is enhanced and colored by extensive travel in Italy, Israel, and Spain. When residing in Rome she taught English as a second language to members of the Italian Parliament. Mimi also worked at the auction house Christie's before pursuing her creative career.
Mimi has many projects ranging in several disciplines: writer, producer, and director of the short film Call Waiting, which was awarded funding from NYNEX (Verizon), and wardrobe was provided by Donna Karan. The film was acclaimed and included in CINEBLAST’S Second Volume of Short Films. It was also screened at the Phat Shorts Film Festival in New York, and the Short Cuts Film Festival in Paris, France.
Mimi directed the independent music video “Honey Come Lately” for the band The Thrill Cycle as well as Nana Soul’s music video “Ruby Roses” produced by Black Waxx Recordings Inc.

Mimi’s screenplay To Hades and Back was sold to Helkon International Pictures, and the historical drama screenplay inspired by history’s forgotten Jewish heroine A Call to Arms (developed under the tutelage of Jack Lechner, formerly at Film Four, HBO, and head of production and development at Miramax.) Mimi’s screenplay The Fox is based on a true story of the artist and maverick NYPD cop who single-handedly recovered millions of dollars worth of art and antiques.

Additionally, Mimi created and wrote 3 non-scripted TV series, one with actor/producer Henry Winkler, and 3 docuseries in development, one with ITV America. Mimi co-wrote the short “Currency” with acclaimed novelist Rachel Kadish and Mimi will direct in the summer of 2023. Mimi accomplished another creative milestone – she adapted her screenplay, Judith, into a novel.
