Not a real conscience decision, but they say rules are made to be broken. I told my writer friend named Karimah who you met last summer about this site too. I'll refer her to you.

As social media network sites go this one is pretty good. Facebook was always kind of lame to me and it's actually gotten worse. I just use it to keep in touch with people and when the time comes to promote an event, I'll include it in my marketing plans. Nice head-shot by the way!

I completely agree with Mr. Olson. If you have a script and want to see it produced, produce it, raise the money, hire a production crew and go to work. Get it done!

The best response so far! No guts, no glory!

Thank you so much! Just entered two contests, one was just for movie ideas, and that closes in October. Checking out ways to protect my work right now. Don't know if I should trust copyrighting with WGA or go another route.....any suggestions? I am understandably pretty protective!

Karen Goldfarb

well.. there's always the copywright office.. just check it out online what you have to do to protect yourself...I've always gone with WGA .. just so you know.. you can't copywright an idea.. just words.. from what I've heard.. I may be wrong.. ;)

Richard "RB" Botto

Good advice, Karen. WGAW and the Copyright office.

What are your favorite prison movies? (Other than Shawshank Redemption.)

When I mention prison movie, I hear people here say "Shawshank." I'm just wondering, which other prison movies do you like? I haven't seen "The Experiment" yet. Cool Hand Luke was good. There were a few Alcatraz movies that were pretty good (I wasn't the biggest fan of The Rock, I guess that's more...

How does one adapt a 1096 pg novel to a 120 pg spec script?

My agent would like me to write a spec script of my novel (1096 ms pages). I have the software Final Draft for the formatting. I'm at a loss as to what to cut and what to keep. The novel is Front Row Center. Any and all help is appreciated.

Cynthia B Ainsworthe

Max, I couldn't resist the pun, either. I like your idea, cutting to the main conflict and subplot. That's far more manageable. Thanks for giving my conundrum serious thought.

David Miller

I was suggesting that reading Ray Bradury's account of the process he used to write the screenplay for the John Houston film version of of the book could be of some help to Ms. Ainsworthe.

Cynthia B Ainsworthe

Thank you, David, for that advice. I'll have to check it out. What a great resource.
