Cesar Abella is the winner of the Old Vic New Voices Out of Character Monologue Competition. A native of San Francisco, he received his BA in Theater from UCLA and his MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London. Theater writing credits include 'Sleeping Around' (Valley Theatre Award nominee for Best Play, 2016), "Love for Beginners' (Semifinalist for Best Play, Strawberry One-Act Festival 2011), "The 'I Need Therapy!' Show" (Theatre Unleashed), "White Satin. Clean Lines" (Winner of Out of Character Monologue Competition, Old Vic New Voices), "Pretend" (Straight Out of Line Company), "I Can't Even Look at Your Eyes Without Shaking" (24 Hour Plays 2009, The Old Vic). He also completed his short film directorial debut, 'The Price of Getting High,' which is currently under consideration for several high-profile film festivals. He strives to tell genre stories about marginalized people.
