About Vivian

My creative approach is a combination of strict visual tradition and creative experiment. The themes and topics I explore in my artwork are greatly varied, but I’m particularly interested in ancient history, the rise and fall of civilizations, nature, and cosmology.

My work has screened in art galleries, museums, and film festivals around the world, including the Tagore International Film Festival in India (2021), the Jönköping Museum in Sweden (2013), the International Video Art Festival in Athens, Greece (2012), the BFI London Film Festival (2007), the Paris Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (2007), and more.

I have explored the medium of analog film in its many formats using a wide variety of pre-digital technologies. I have also worked with some of the very first digital video equipment during its earliest accessibility. I have adapted to the fast changes in the field of film, photography, and video for the past 30 years, both as a commercial artist as well as an experimental filmmaker. Most recently I simply create using my iPhone because I enjoy the immediacy of the handheld device and the intimate, personal aspect, of working alone.

Additionally, I have formal training as a Method Actor and have performed on stage and screen. I am an official member of the Cloud Appreciation Society. I was born and raised in northern California, a first generation American of Greek descent, with maternal and paternal lineage from Arcadia. I enjoy a perfect cup of coffee, my garden, and contemplating Plato's Theory of Forms.
