I am a very big computer geek, I have a custom build PC that can do most everything I could ever need. It has all CS6 and some plug-ins on it. So down to the question, What do you use Mac or PC, and Why?

I'm a screenwriter and a playwright/director who's had 5 stage scripts successfully produced. I started screenwriting a few years ago, and now have several projects completed. My latest script is a romantic comedy that placed as a Semi-Finalist in a well known screenwriting competition, and because of this, I've hooked up with an LA Indie Producer who loves the project and wants to produce it. I'm a happy camper! Would now like to connect with other producers, agents, and managers for my other projects, but would also like to continue to meet new friends! :)
I'm currently negotiating with a potential Agent to represent me and their asking for (X) % gross of the budget. I thought Agents get a % of what you make but this particular Agent is also acting as consultant and is negotiating finance and distribution for the project. Should I be concerned with them wanting a gross % of the budget?
For Don: wouldn't it be better to get the entertainment lawyer's hourly rate instead, in order to save money? And as for other entertainment lawyers. the kid who played Chunk in THE GOONIES is currently one as well.
It sounds like that "agent" is trying to rip you off. An agent is not supposed to get a percentage of the gross budget. Agents get a percentage of ONLY the sale or auction of an script. I advise you t...

I advise you to separate the "functions." Pay the agent what he or she is due for helping you sale or auction the material. And then hire a different person -preferably a lawyer- to handle contracts, etc. Good luck.

Expand commentHi, I agree with Stacey when she said "illumminating." An agent gets 10% of what YOU make. However, to me, this agent is acting more like a producer with negotiating finance and distributing the project when done. Just my opinion, but I would check out the agent first and get some reviews. Financing is obviously a big thing is getting your project made, so if this agent knows the right people and can get it done, you're in, but the % you agree on is up to you. Good luck!

In 2013, I took the risk of writing in English for the first time and I started with a screenplay. It worked, somehow. I was awarded with Bronze in the Barcelona International Film Festival and I was a finalist at the Hollywood Screenplay Contest and Madrid International Film Festival, among some other minor contests. But that winner screenplay isn't good enough. I want to write stories that inspire the entire world and can be comercially produced. Stories that will make you laugh and cry. Perhaps at the same time. So, I just finished my next screenplay. It's called "This is Paradise" and hope some of you will hear about it. That's me. Thank you.
Good to have you here.
Pedro, Congratulations on your success!
Thanks, Donna.

A few years ago, I started screenwriting, and now, I'm working with an LA Producer on my latest project that recently placed as a Semi-Finalist in a well known screenplay competition. My hopes are to have this script produced well and my dream is to become a successful screenwriter and director of feature films. It's so nice to meet all of you! :)
I need to explore contests more too! I have had many plays produced that I wrote but haven't explored publishing yet! I'll have to pick your brain sometime Donna!
Thanks Donna. I just submitted to the ABC screenwriter showcase. Praying that my 2 submissions will do well.
I'll be hoping for you, Kenya! Good luck!!!
Thank you Donna

Many distributors and networks want finished video in Pro-Res 4:2:2 or Pro-Res HQ. In which case only a Mac can encode it properly.
I use Both mac and PC. I use Mac for 80 percent of my editor jobs and PC for Digital Fusion compositing and Vegas Pro if needed. To be marketable, You need to have good working knowledge on both platforms. Having some Linux knowledge is just gravy.

There is also a ProRes converter app that only runs on PC called cliptoolz converter. The web site is www.cliptoolz.com
Thanks for the invitation, Omar. Great to meet you at Stage 32! :)
