About James

As a kid growing up in NYC, I would spend Saturday afternoons in the movie theater of my blue collar neighborhood in Queens. I loved every film genre but was particularly enthralled by John Ford’s Monument Valley westerns and dreamed of living in the West.

I spent my teens hanging out in the coffee houses of Greenwich Village where I was introduced to beat literature and modern art.

In a Hemingwayesque gesture, I enlisted in the Marine Corps at eighteen and served in the Far East where I studied Haiku and Zen.

Back in New York, I worked as a union film editor helping to create documentaries, commercials and television specials, including an ABC television special that won a national Emmy and I earned a Mass Comm. degree from SUNY.

A vacation in Colorado rekindled the childhood dream of living in the West and my wife and I moved to Denver where I worked in broadcast television news and the cable industry. I taught editing workshops at Western States Film Institute and was an instructor for the communications department of Metropolitan State College, teaching film criticism and film history and serving as a guest lecturer on media ethics.

Presently, I am the president of Lone Wolf Explorations and work as a writer, manuscript editor and editorial consultant. My poetry has been published in literary journals and I have contributed essays to . My political satire, "The Founding Fathers Farewell Tour of the U.S. of A.", is available at: as is my newest book, "Zen and the art of fly fishing".

I am fond of big dogs, fine art, great writing and lively conversation. I am also an earnest fly fisherman, a novice water media artist and the owner of a historic gold mining claim near a Colorado ghost town.
