About Marti

Fables, founded in New York City, is now based in oh-so-fashionable Los Angeles! Manufactured on both coasts, Fables Jewelry has a unique style which evokes a romantic nostalgia and turns familiar favorite articles of "life," such as old-fashioned "skate keys" and "bon-bon" crinkled wrappers into sterling "badges of honor," creating fashion statements from "women's drudgery" i.e.: Whiting & Davis mesh "Garter Straps" with semi-precious "button" or a (believe it or not!) sexy sterling silver version of an old-fashioned "sink stopper" with silver "toilette pull" chain choker wrapped around several times. Designer and owner, Marti Heil, formerly a top lingerie model in New York, studied silversmithing with Betsy Rogers of FIT and incorporates many years of experience in fashion and design (she was assistant costume designer on TORCH SONG TRILOGY on Broadway,) her love of everything "girlie" --along with her quirky and trompe l'oeil humor, to bring "stories" to life in the lasting form of sterling silver jewelry. Sensuous, finely hand-crafted, seasonless, elegant, and most definitely tongue-in-"chic," with a hip sensibility, a Fables customer quickly becomes a collector.

The Fables by Marti Heil collection is ultra-feminine and references Marilyn Monroe's glamorous sensuality in its direction. Fabric-like sterling mesh, opulent chains and voluptuous lengthy silver "pearls" which convert from flapper knots to four-wrap choker to bracelet or can be cinched with large whimsical charms as shorteners. Or a choker laden with 30 some sexy sterling silver pumps. A life-size spool of thread with onyx "hole" and real thread! Buckle brooches which give the effect of an invisible "belt"...a pair of silver eyeglasses which go over a jacket pocket..."a cup of kindness" hanging from a long leather cord. This collection is a tribute to the soft femininity which is woman's power.
