I am here on Stage 32 as a music producer and publisher, but I started my professional career focussed on becoming a filmmaker. I attended the New York Film Academy when it was just getting started, then worked a couple of jobs in video before landing an internship at the first video post facility in NYC to install Flame systems, Click 3x. There I learned about video, editing, compositing and animation as I worked my way up to a junior Flame Operator position. Then, in a move designed to jump-start my career and expand my horizons, I took a senior Flame Op job at a facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, then another senior position in Johannesburg, South Africa a year later. 20 years on, I'm still in SA working with some of Johannesburg's most talented musicians and songwriters.
Unique traits: I'm an intelligent, creative, multi-aptitude individual, which means that I can do pretty much anything I set my mind to. Plus, I'm easy to work with. I'm not nearly as cocky as the first sentence suggests.
The Dilemma
by Songsmiths / The Cooler
Producer/Director The Dilemma is the portrait of year spent in a tense limbo, between a career in music and school (a.k.a. a normal life). That year was a tough one that “tempted to darken [her] heart” but K-Jo came out of it stronger... and with a great song.
