Hi Dougie, thanks for connecting. Just thought I'd say that I'm a big fan of Green Street!
Indeed it was! I'll be sure to check out your new films.
There are so many great shows on TV today. Any recommendations for a good show to write a spec script for? What's hot now? I am leaning towards Archer, Sleepy Hollow, or Black List. Any other suggestions?
Don't go for what's hot now. Too many readers (and I am one) are overwhelmed with what's hot now. Write a spec for something you are passionate about.
I'd suggest writing an episode of a show that you love, irregardless of how popular it is. Also, play to your strengths as a writer. I tried Parks & Rec not long ago and wasn't happy with my work, but when I gave Community a shot I was much more confident!

Make sure what you spec is a show you really like--it will help you enormously to watch the show a lot so you get the sense of pacing, etc. Best is when what you spec is your genre. Probably something episodic will be easier than something more serialized. Hope that gives you a start.

I understand even more- thanks Phillip.
Matthew, cool - that experience shared is a great eye opener. I will try out InkTip then- black list can wait. But almost $200 for a script is outrageous considering the chances is thin-

But I did get short-listed for blind deals with Warner and TNT because of it, so I consider it worthwhile. I don't think there's any point keeping a script up beyond the first month if you have anything less than a 7, maybe an 8.

Feel free to check out my profile and some of my work, and if anyone has any interest in working with me (for example, I've got plenty of unproduced short film scrips, and always open to working on new ideas with people) then please don't hesitate to throw a message my way!
Welcome to the scene!
