Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, I'd gone through most of my life wondering what it would be like to live in California. I raised my hand the first chance I got and joined the service. Took me all over the world.
As I traveled, I found myself documenting my journies with both photographs and written letters, just so I could recant the happenings to my family once I was able to get somewhere with a stable internet connection. After a while, I started to write just for the sake of writing. The idle time I was starting to accrue slowly morphed into reading time, as I have nothing to write about in between missions. I found myself now engulfed in the conspiracy narratives that engulfed the pages of the novels sent over by caring supporters.
Once I got out, I left my passion for writing for some time but gained a new one for photography. I was living in Georgia at the time, when someone from Anaheim came across my work through Instagram. The first thing that popped into my mind was, "this is my chance." I called my wife and told her we need to quit everything we're doing and move to California. Thank goodness she said yes.
As my photography career took off, I felt as though something was missing. One gig photographing a movie premiere later and I knew exactly what it was.
And here I am now.
