How to do new time travel?

Howdy fellow sci-fi screenwriters, I recently read an article about the sort of scripts you should and shouldn't write. One of the shoulds was a time travel movie, and it got me thinking about the ways in which time travel has been done and how it can be done freshly (Looper) and whether other fresh...

Thank you Adam, for bringing up this interesting question! I'm not sure if physical time travel will be possible one day, but mental time travelin, even deep into ancient generations could be cause ev...

Writing a Deaf or Mute character Dialog.

I have a question concerning writing dialog for a character that is deaf or mute. How do I write dialog that would normally be in sign language?

Beth Fox Heisinger

Thomas, just write those characters authentically and have them operate under their own agenda and agency. :)

Michael Wilde

Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye (2002 - 2005) shows you how to deal with the problem. If you have a deaf mute, establish another main character earlier that they can read sign language. This establishes to the fr...

@Michael Wilde Thank you for the suggestion. I figured there was a way to write it and make sense. In fact I like all of the ideas on this discussion.

Probably a stupid question

I have an original horror screenplay that I just started to shop around and plan on entering a few contests.... Anyway, I love my story and want to keep developing the idea. Can I turn my 90 page screenplay into a novel. This way maybe I can self publish to kindle and get some reviews and maybe get...

Do it. Worst case scenario if nobody buys the book? Don't tell anyone it exists.

Alex Alexander

Thank you everybody for the opinions, appreciate it!

Absolutely a good idea! For me, novelization helped both book and screenplay: the screenplay formed the backbone of the novel (which I then had to flesh out with "production value"), and writing the n...

Looking for a book about screenwriting.

Hi All, I recently read «MAKING A GOOD SCRIPT GREAT» by LINDA SEGER. It was brilliant and extremely helpful, only problem is that it was in a foreign language. Wondering if you could help me find an English version. Would really appreciate it. Thanks a million. Hil.

D Marcus

It is interesting reading all the varying responses on this thread. Most people read the title but not the question. Hilary was looking for an english language version of Linda Seger's book.

I have just finished writing my second artist's manual, The Dynamics of Character Behavior (which now contains a character plotting chart). This, of course, follows The Nature of Characters manual (still available), which takes Milton Katselas' teachings to a whole new level and makes it applicable, not only to the screenwriter, but to actors as well.
