Justin graduated summa cum laude from Morehouse College. He displays a creative fearlessness in his writing, crafting stories to elevate his culture so marginalized people will see themselves reflected in his work and know that they exist. He honed his edgy, disruptive style working with his mentor, Bill Duke and studying at UCB School of Comedy where he’s written and produced shows.
He’s been selected one of NBC’s Writers On The Verge and appeared on "The Daily Show." His pilot, POSTER BOY, advanced to the semi-finals at Austin Film Festival, Screenwriters Network Pilots, and was named a finalist for the MACRO x Black List Warner Media Incubator. It’s currently ranked in the top 1% on Coverfly’s Red List.
His screenplay, PROJECT HUMBUG, was recently named a semi-finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship and a finalist for Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Impact x Netflix Content Accelerator. It ranks in the top 1% on Coverfly’s Red List.
He recently sold a screenplay based on his Off-Broadway Play, LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO, which he adapted and produced on a Dept of Housing & Urban Development grant. Justin is co-founder of WGA Strike Unite, an artists’ collective dedicated to amplifying rank and file members and helping to secure much needed resources.
