About Kirby

Kirby Carroll Wright is a writer and marketing strategist with a passion for creative storytelling and brand building. She was born in August of 1990 to two loving parents who stressed the importance of work-ethic, compassion, and purpose-filled living. Throughout childhood and adolescence, she constantly wrote short stories while still making time for after school activities such as marching band and drama rehearsal.

However, her passion for the arts truly blossomed in 2008 when she moved to Atlanta, Ga to attend Clark Atlanta University. Beginning her career as a theater major, Kirby discovered her true skill was behind the scenes. She would create monologues and skits for her friends and spend hours in the communication department shadowing filmmakers and professors. Her love for writing and knack for project management led to many early opportunities such as: an internship with WAVY TV/FOX 43, an internship with 135th Street PR agency, and various media correspondence opportunities.

By 2013 Kirby was working full time in radio advertising at iHeartMedia, and as a freelance publicist. Her friends and peers admired her busy life and felt as if she had a “dream job”. However, Kirby knew she was not being truly fulfilled. So, she made the difficult decision to uproot her life and move to Washington, DC to pursue a Graduate degree in Producing for Film and Video.

There she took career-changing classes like Screenwriting for Film and Television, Production Management and Planning, and Media Enterprise.  She found genuine enjoyment in creating web-series and constructing short films. Learning more about the business of production inspired her to develop her writing style and become intentional about her career goals. Pursuing this journey has led to months of unemployment, strained relationships and more.  Still she feels as if her calling is worth it all.

Today she works full-time as a Content Specialist for The Weather Channel and still makes time to spend her evening screenwriting.. She also is the creator of Checking Off the List, a scripted viral web-series that explores millenninal dating boasting over 50,000 organic views. Her hope is to one day become a full-time screenwriter and continue assisting inspiring brands and entrepreneurs through storytelling and strategic marketing.
