LISANNE SARTOR

Lisanne Sartor is an award-winning writer/director whose short film “Six Letter Word” has screened at over fifty film festivals worldwide, including the Telluride Film Festival and the American Pavilion at Cannes (www.sixletterword.org). She made that short via the AFI Directing Workshop for Women. Her feature script of “Six Letter Word” was awarded a renowned Hedgebrook Writers Residency for 2016. She will direct the feature, “Six Letter Word” in 2017 with Tani Cohen () producing. Her newest short “Prick” () also screened at the American Pavilion at Cannes, among other film festivals. She will shoot her next short, “Heimlich,” based on M.C. Moore’s short story (http://www.wordriot.org/archives/6766), this winter.

Lisanne moved to Los Angeles to be a writer/director after graduating Yale but got waylaid from writing and directing when she was admitted to the DGA Assistant Director Training Program. She quickly discovered that, although assistant directing doesn’t necessarily lead to directing, it’s good training for any aspect of filmmaking.

She left ADing after seven years to get an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA, where she won numerous screenwriting awards, including the Samuel Goldwyn. Her original screenplay, “Cleaverville” was produced by Alexander/Enright Productions and aired on Lifetime. She’s written an MOW for the DeAngelis Group in Italy, had a script optioned by Hearst Entertainment, and developed projects with Roth-Arnold Productions and other companies. She’s a UCLA screenwriting instructor and has been Board President of the CineStory Foundation since 2013 and a board member since 2004.

Bye Bye Love (1995)
Film (Comedy) Second Unit Director or Assistant Director This is a story about the breakup of the family. In particular, it focuses on the lifestyle of three divorced men. The film is presented from their perspective and it reveals their relationship with their children, ex-wives, girl friends, male friendships, and their identities as divorced men. In addition to dealing with divorce, the film touches on spousal loss and young adult homelessness. The film can be considered a social commentary that is both comical and emotional. White Dwarf (1995)

Outbreak (1995)

The virus becomes known as the Motaba virus, and it's so deadly that it causes severe bleeding and liquefies internal organs, killing within 3 days. The virus wipes out Motaba River Valley, and a devastatingly huge fire bomb is dropped onto Motaba River Valley in order to reduce the chances of further infection. The bomb was dropped on the orders of corrupt General Donald McClintock, even though an army surgeon, General Bill Ford, was against the idea. 27 years later, in 1994, there is another outbreak in Motaba River Valley.
