Born in 1978 in Lisbon, Luís Alves graduated in Cinema from Lusófona
University

A Cova (2011) was his first official short film, a thriller, which he produced,
co wrote, and directed The work won national awards including Best
National Short Film at PUFF 2012 Best Short Film and Best Short Film
Director at Cineuphoria 2012 and 2 nd Prize at FARCUME 2012 It was also
screened at festivals in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany
Following that came Branco (2013) which was distinguished with 11 Cineuphoria Awards in 2014 Best Short
Film at Shortcutz ( Algarve, and Viseu), 2 awards at the CBA 2014 and a Cinematic Achievement Award
at the THESS Film Festival in Greece
In 2022 he directed the thriller O Caso Coutinho which was selected by various festivals including MotelX
2022 and Fantasporto 2023 and won awards at Cineuphoria 2023 Prémios Curtas 2023 and the Fear Fair Film
Fest 2022 in the United States It is currently being distributed commercially on Cinemundo, Filmin, and FilmTwist
