Cinematography to me is the art of seeing a story on paper and properly translating it to the screen. Yes, cameras, jibs, dollies, etc are all fun toys. But, understanding those toys to engage the audience is a whole different level. If you have a vast expansive shot that sweeps across a field of flowing grain and the sun glaring through and the scene is about the death of a boy’s childhood horse, what are you telling the audience? Those are the things a Director of Photography must take into consideration when approaching a new project.
Hello! I’m Brandon David Hyde. I’m an aspiring Director of Photography/Cinematographer in the Tampa, FL area. Welcome!
I’m the oldest of 4 children who grew up in a very rural town north of Knoxville, TN. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife, Sophia Hyde, for 5 years now.
I am very reserved, but can once I consider you a friend, you see the real fun, sarcastic personality come out.
During high school, my artistic ventures were very limited. At the age of 20, I moved to Florida. There I met my wife, and she opened to me doors I never knew were possible before. She encouraged my creativity. From that point, I found filmmaking and that was it. I have since learned, honed, and continue to grow in the art of cinematography. It comes naturally to me and I love doing it.
I hope you enjoy what you see on the site. I’m always looking to broaden my skills and portfolio. Email, Facebook, Tweet or call me. I want to hear your stories and see how I can bring them to life.
