David Freid

David Freid is a video producer and visual journalist based in NYC.

David has had multiple incarnations in the entertainment industry, from development, production and post, to camera, editing, design, and interactive. He has produced sports segments for ESPN and Fox Sports, a documentary about elves in Iceland, and festival favorites such as THE WIND FISHERMAN, CAKE, and WITHOUT PARIS. David has also worked in development at HBO Films and De Line Pictures (Warner Bros), and as producer in interactive media for Disney, Random House, and Dreamworks Animation - creating and spearheading the web experience for SHREK FOREVER AFTER. He is the recipient of three Telly Awards for advertising, and multiple awards for interactive. Additionally, his writing, photojournalism, and travel documentaries have been featured in the Huffington Post, LA Times, PBS, and BBC World News. While working with the Tiziano Project last year, he and his team were nominated for an American Giving Award for their work in community journalism. Most recently, David was in the story department on the first season of CATFISH: THE TV SHOW for MTV. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California, and an MFA from the American Film Institute.

David is currently in pre-production on STRAIGHT EDGE, a feature film that chronicles a lonely sixteen-year-old born with a hole in his heart as he's enveloped into the rebellious, tumultuous, and sometimes violent world of straight edge punk culture. He is producing alongside Gare Farrand Entertainment.
