Expand commentHi Delonda! I am also just starting out and it is not an easy process. But I know it will be well worth it! Building a resume is the first step. If you don't have experience to put on it, then get training so people know you're serious. Workshops, acting classes, and independent student films are all great places to start. You will also need headshots from a professional photographer and have them printed professionally as well. Don't make the mistake I did by getting them printed at Walmart! Ha. In order to find these places go to the resource tab of http://peoplestore.net. and they have a list of reputable companies. Hope this helps and good luck!

Landed roles and got experience just going for it. I'd go to workshops and classes to really learn and try new things on the side. (don't sell yourself short by doing work your not comfortable with or screenplays you don't find valuable to yourself) Workshops are a great place to gain skills and get comfortable with yourself... one can always keep growing and learning! Good luck, and get out there! :)

I was recently fired from my job in sales and after a while of thinking about it, it was ultimately for a lack of passion. But whats 4 years, a degree, and insurmountable debt right? The heart wants what the heart wants. Ever since I was a kid I have loved being different characters, practicing tones and impressions in the mirror, pretending to be someone I'm not and taking it as far as I could to see how believable I was. Now some may call this multiple personality disorder and my parents called it me being a "busybody" but what I see it as is what I was lacking from my last position: Passion. I love being on stage and I love seeing people have a good time knowing that I contributed to the joy of the moment. Now I'm ready to make a living doing so. I have made it as far as getting headshots done and I'm excited to take my next steps.
We're excited for you, James! You're in the right place to grow. Make sure you join the ACTORS LOUNGE on the regular for solid intel. What are your next steps? What are you doing with the headshots?
I will. I am going to get them printed professionally with The Pixel Pusher and submit them to several agencies. I am also looking at joining acting classes so I can have something to put on a resume. I have an audit to sit in on today!
That's what's up! Good luck with that.

This is a network for you, built by you. Like most things in life, the more you participate, the greater the rewards. We ask all new members to pay it forward by inviting 5 fellow creatives to the network and by spreading the word of Stage 32 through other social media sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. The more creatives, the stronger the network. The stronger the network, the more opportunities.
Thanks for joining the movement and for being a part of this most talented and inspiring community. I very much look forward to your contributions.
Thanks, and have a creative day!
