New Scam! Beware Writers!

I almost got scammed just recently with a person who contacted me via this platform that's cat fishing a legit producer image and resume on IMBD. It wasn't real, not even close. Luckily I caught it before I made a big mistake.

That's a new one in the scams against writers so I'd thought I'd let you...

Hello S32 Writers,

So... I have an idea for a period film based on a true story, a woman's life. However, she has no descendants that are living and the only way her story is even known is a book about her life, which is where I got the idea. The publishing company for the book is no longer in busine...

Take Dan Max’s advice. I’m shopping a true story about someones life written in a book. Just concentrate on writing the story as the writer and making it a great story! Let producers worry about that it’s ther job and they know how to do it!

GENRE: Drama, Thriller
LOGLINE:

Set in the not-too-distant future where citizens are randomly selected to die to control the population, a survivor tries to come to terms with the loss of his loved one.

First Feature Finished

Just finished my first feature screenplay. It took a total of 17 months with a total of 4 drafts. It’s a great feeling! Now, I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping it gets made. Have a meeting with producers next week. Let’s get it!

What first: full screenplay or logline?

In my current career as a trainer the "rule" is, you do a one-pager pitching/describing the course you want to sell and once a client is on-board you get the full course developed.

I was wondering if the same should apply to a screenplay: should you craft a logline first, see the reaction and then pr...

Last year, my producing partner and I got a funding offer on the back of a two page synopsis I'd written that morning. We're actually in pre-production on that movie right now and scheduled to shoot i...

When trying to drum up interest in a script, having a one page summary is important. That page has a logline, then a short summary, and then some bio info on you and any other people connected to the...

For me, always the logline first as it helps me test the idea - is it a movie I'd want to see (and write)? Also helps me choose the next project to work on, which one do I like the best? Can evolve, but usually the core idea remains the same.

Found this very nice database of screenplays

Hey guys! If you want to read a few scripts, The script Lab has a very nice database of screenplays (both movies and tv shows) for free. It's really cool. :) Enjoy! https://thescriptlab.com/screenplays/

Script Lab is absolutely fantastic! Been using them for years.

Screenwriter on the Search for Representation

Hello Fellow Creatives! I recently completed the final touches on a drama pilot (logline in my profile) that's received recognition in a California screenplay competition, as well as positive feedback from industry professionals. I hope to find a great manager and agent who can help get my work prod...

Are you the same Brian Braddock that was in "Heartset" four or five years ago? If so, what have you been doing since then?

Brian Braddock

Yes sir, I am. I have been good. Haven't worked on much, but am still pursuing it.

James David Sullivan

Good. Never give up if you want to achieve your dreams.
