Thank you for sharing your story. I've known some people to give up already and it has been a little disheartening being so young. But people like you who share their trials and success is what keeps others to also keep going. So, thank you.

Hello all, I am a film student and I am working on a couple student projects as an assistant director. I have knowledge on this already. But I was wondering about your experiences. Did you guys have any challenges? and tips for an aspiring AD? This is just me being curious, you can never learn too much.
thanks so much :)

David Trotti has it covered! I've only worked on a few films as Production Sound Mixer, but I can say a confident AD who is calm and prepared helps the crew work so much smoother, and the opposite is just a nightmare!
All right!! for my school in the film department we get a challenge every semester to film a short within 48 hours. The trick is, no one knows what the subject can be about (past years: Horror- Romance. road-trip, Bollywood, infomercial). But this is my first year participating and I am super excited. I am producer and everyone has already snagged up people for their teams and it has been crazy. I am tempted to keep posting about it on my page and maybe even upload it if it turns out good. But I was curious do any of you also participate in any fun film competitions?
I love 48 hour film festivals! Very stressful, but pretty fun!

Especially for my good friend who is the production designer, she didn't know anyone and showing her the people I was telling her about made her more comfortable. BTW cards against humanity is the best ice breaker out there... just saying

This is beyond excruciating. This is my first year participating and I an the producer. This doesn't even take place until Nov. 6 and yet I have done so much organizing, and as much pre-production as we can. We have all the key positions and we are probably gunna double up positions because since it is the 48 having a good size crew helps but having a huge crew is too hard to manage for a full 48 hours. Right now there are 10 crew members and 2 actors. and we will write a script that night of how to work around are 2 actors. I am relying heavily on my production designer to find places last minute. Luckily she is the homie so we can find places. It is going to be super hard and all of are strengths will be tested.

Right now I am taking classes and learning all the different positions on set. But the ones that really stuck out to me the most are Assistant Directing and may Line producing. But at this point in my life be a PA would be cool with me. If you are ever in Vegas and you need some help let me know. Or if you have work over the summer email me cause I can possibly get to were you are. "If there is a will, there is a way". Ok I think that is enough for my first post. Have a good day everyone and have fun on all your sets.
