My name is Michael Canale and for over 20 years I’ve been a live sports and entertainment show producer, writer and director. I’ve worked with various media brands and networks, including ESPN, Fox Sports, ABC, NBC, CBS, NFL Network, PGA Tour Live, Bleacher Report/Turner Sports, E! Entertainment and TVG/FanDuel TV. I’ve also produced and written several sports documentaries. I was fortunate enough to be nominated and win multiple Emmy Awards for my work.
Taking a step back from where I am today and how I first got involved in the entertainment industry. Soon after graduating from UCLA, I got the opportunity to work with Bud Yorkin. I learned a lot about producing, writing, and directing for film and television during my time with Mr. Yorkin. I’ve always had the desire to produce my own feature and in 1995 I got the opportunity to produce my first independent film, Illusions. It was a great experience and I got to wear many hats during the production process. After that I produced another independent film with Mark Harmon, called Casualties and in 2002 I co-wrote the story for National Lampoon’s Gold Diggers.
Soon after Gold Diggers, my writing and producer partner at the time Gary Preisler, sold a pitch to Columbia Pictures Television for a series called The Ages. We had it in development there for about one year but could not get a pilot made.
