About Julio
My passion for film began early in my childhood growing up in Mexico. As far back as I can remember, I was watching every movie I could get my hands on. I learned about great directors and their way to tell stories & witness an evolution of filmmaking.
After working and saving, in 1997 I found myself in New York City attending New York Film Academy. Later, I moved onto NYU, to their continuing education program, where I was able to attend film classes, many only as a listener… which was ok by me. I was there to learn and grow, not to gain a piece of paper.
After 3 years of funding my own education in another country, it became too expensive for me to attend school and live in the city, but I felt I had the tools to start my journey as a director. Shortly after, I received an offer to direct a film. For me this was my diploma. There is no class that can substitute the experience gained from jumping head first into a project.
I have since spent the last 10 years telling stories through commercial work, documentaries, and music videos. I have spent several years learning and polishing my editing skills, and have found it to be as much a part of me as directing. I now understand that a great performance or great directing alone is not what makes for great tv or film, but along with the right editing and soundtrack to match, you can create memorable moments, you change someone's life.. much like so many movies have changed mine.

Film (Documentary, Biography, Crime, Drama and 1 More) Camera and Electrical Department New York City. 1987. A new group of individuals arrives to fill the artistic power vacuum created by Andy Warhol's untimely death and the demise of his "Factory", in the form of The Club Kids. They would reign supreme over The City's nightlife through an era of decadence, debauchery and creative heights, which culminated with the death of one of them as well as the party itself. Their undisputed leader was Michael Alig, who came to New York with dreams of working in the fashion industry, only to find himself at the head of a nightlife movement which went far beyond anyone's expectations, reaching outrageous proportions. It ultimately imploded catastrophically with Michael going to prison for the murder and dismemberment of fellow Club Kid and drug dealer Angel Melendez.
