Peter Gauthier is an American born, French-Canadian composer based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is currently studying music composition and technology in the Peck School of the Arts at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He is interested in writing music for film, acoustic instruments and electronic media. He has recently finished several film scores, three of which were premiered on the campus of UWM and most recently, a short film for Wide Open Pictures. He will also be doing the music for the film Scotch Tension, directed by Sam Kasper and Grant Brown, part of which will be performed by the Milwaukee Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also completed his EP album Liquid Electrics released on March 17, 2018 which features acoustic, electronic, and electro-acoustic works. Some of his most recent works for acoustic instruments include a large band work written for Ripon High School which was premiered in December 2017, a commissioned piece for Berlin High School being premiered this fall, and a piece for percussion ensemble, string quartet, and live electronics which was premiered at the Milwaukee Composer’s Collective concert in November of 2017.
