Hola, does anyone know an entertainment lawyer that gives consultations to authors? I am writing an autobiography and I have some questions on writing about illegal activities.

Great to connect with you. I am an author of thrillers and horror novels. you can find my thrillers on Amazon - THE BURNING MAN, FIRESTORM and DYING DECLARATON. I just finished a fourth novel in the thriller series called BOMB BLAST and a stand alone horror novel called FIONA'S BOX. Check out my author page on Amazon.

As I build my team and grow my knowledge, writing has become a way of life. Seven years seems like forever but let me tell you I'm glad it's taken this long to succeed, because had I "made it" with the first thing I've ever written then I wouldn't have grown as a writer.
So I'm here to say hello, I'm a writer and so are you. Our writer minds are in this together. Don't give up, someone, somewhere, someday will find your writing and enjoy every word.
Until then keep writing, even if it's for you because in the end if you don't like what you write your not a writer, you're critic. So get busy writing or get busy dying. I'm pretty sure that's a song, no copyright infringement intended.
your message makes my day and give me the strength to continue, thank you.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Good things to come.
More power to you! Shakespeare's plays are still being read. 500 years from now your stories will be read. What you write is immortal.
Not sure if this went through before, so I am sending it again.

Though I am ready to submit them, I am wondering should I submit them to competitions or should I hold on to them until I meet the right contacts? I do have two short screenplays that I have thought about making, though I do not have funding. I guess I am at the point where I have a lot of written material but I don't know what to do with it. If someone could give me some advice or insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Expand commentI jumped right into contests way early on and I basically threw away money, got kicked in the teeth and eventually realized I should have gotten professional feedback first. I would suggest picking your most polished piece and getting coverage so that someone who knows something and doesn't have emotional attachment to you can give needed critique. Contests will be there down the road.
Are all 5 of your scripts in the same genre? Meaning, did you learn how to craft a solid script in one genre?
There are contests out there that will give you feedback just for entering. I would suggest taking your best screenplay and entering one or two, get the feedback, then decide where to go from there.
I have written quite a few short stories. I was wondering if anyone knows what I can do with them, such as publishing or just to get them out into the world. I know Writers Digest has a competition. Does anyone know of any other competitions or websites I can publish my stories?
Hi, did you try to publish them on Amazon or kindle? I created a free webinar on getting published if you are interested?
Thank you all so much for your help and info. I have a great appreciation for this community and will be on the way to publishing my work.

Some local papers run small competitions. And there are some like Costa Coffee's short story competition that can help get you noticed if your story gets selected. What I did, with my collection of short stories, scripts, poems and other such things I'd written that didn't really have a place in the open market as such, was to collate them together in an anthology which I published.

I have taken the bold leap so many of us desire. I have decided to pursue my writing career full time. I quite my job, moved across the country, and have begun a new life as a writer. I take drastic measures to have exciting experiences and content to write about. This is the life I have chosen and I'm happy to share this with a new community. If there's one community that understands our struggles it's the writing community. As of recently I am working on polishing a script and exploring the new city I reside in. I am much more personable in person or in the characters I write. I am old school in a sense I love writing everything by hand, so social networking and an online introduction is complicated. Now I should be 100% complete. Introduce yourself to me. And tell me about your ambitions. After all, us writers have to stick together and create a supportive community. Thanks for reading.
Thanks Carlos. I'm glad to know there are others making bold moves toward our dreams. I wish you good luck in your career.
Steve with the mic drop!
