Continuing work on my short film , close to wrapping it up. Soon to be on editing and sound. Although i still question my acting skills a lot. Never good enough. Over critiquing myself?

I’ve recently published a short novella Called “ Out of Favor: The Traveler”. First draft completed in Oct 2019, but not published until Mar 2020. Ironically it’s starts off with a worldwide Pandemic. But the story is about a man surviving in a decimated world, not the pandemic. I’ve also started a short film based off the main character . Last portion of filming was to be in Mar 2020 but now pushed back due to the ... well...the worldwide pandemic. It’s a strange world we live in. I’ve also appeared in several short films: “Happy Hour” ( on YouTube), “Honeybun Runner”, and a supporting role in the upcoming indie feature film “Fisher” (due out in Oct 2020). Once we resume normal life I hope to get a chance for more roles. But it makes me re-think the story I’m currently working on about the collapse of a nation. This prophetic thing gets a little creepy.

Doing a feature of of the novella is certainly something I’ve thought of, but that take a lot more funding and filming experience than what I have available. But as an actor, I write like I see myself in the moment, what the character is seeing and how I would approach it visually. All in all the storyline was very exciting to write as I always felt I was there as I wrote, seeing it like it was a scene from a movie.

Welcome back, Blaine. You picked a good time to return. Activity on Stage 32 is at an all-time high. Congratulations on the novella and sorry to hear you were in the homestretch on the filming...We'll get back...I have no doubt.

Ooh!! That is prophetic, and yes, it does. Good luck with your works. Despite being prophetic, they sound very interesting.

Whenever an actor will be needed I can refer to you, or even to work with a screenplay. have a nice day
Hello Blaine, nice to have contact with you. My late husband was a 3D artist. I am writing now about things he had in his mind, and about his inspirations. In English and Spanish. as I am Dutch this is a bigger effort than just writing in Dutch, which I not consider as a very romantic language. Have a good day.
Thanks for connecting. Good to hear from you. I am an actor, artist and beginning film maker. And it is always great to hear from others
You as well! Thanks!

I'm Joanna Ferbrache and I live the life of a gypsy actor traveling from place to place performing in a variety of films, plays, musicals, dance shows, improv acts, VO projects, etc. My favorite thing about my job is that it's always a different experience and everyday I meet new people and see new sights. It's absolutely amazing. If you have any upcoming projects, please feel free to hit me up as I would be very interested in auditioning or even working behind the scenes (I am an experienced editor, script consultant, boom mic operator, choreographer, etc.) A big thank you to all the artists who have already made me feel very welcome to Stage 32 and have provided many opportunities for me to continue to live the dream. Thanks!
Welcome!
Thanks!
Welcome!
Could an actor do another job besides acting ? like working at the office.

What are you willing to forego to have the flexibility to leave for an audition at a moments notice? If you land the part, what kind of jobs are going to be okay with you leaving for a few days, week, month?

That may help me take off in the future. Being honest and upfront has made a difference on that. I would love more flexibility, but so far so good. I plan on acting classes which will require me leaving early one day a week after the first of the year, hopefully he'll be supportive of it also

Expand commentI am a Deputy Director for the Federal Government. I supervise a staff of 21 people and my Secretary cannot even keep up with managing my calendar. It's definately a balancing act for me to work my day job and try and audition for gigs. I have been on this path for about three years now of trying to transition from the Federal Government to Acting. Believe it or not, there are quite a few of us at the Senior Leadership level that are trying to make the transition. The love of our craft and dedication is what keeps us on this path. Good luck to everyone, Acting is a life long journey!
You bet Elle! I think a strong network can work to a creatives advantage.
Hey there, just saying Hi as a newbie and looking forward to becoming more involved in this amazing site and connecting with people!
Welcome!!
Welcome, Catherine
Terrific to have you here, Catherine!
You are welcome. I think local connections are important
I mentioned to a friend that I was a little sore after two days of 12+ hrs on set. His response: "Ha! Sore? From acting?"
Funny how people are quick to mock what they don't understand.
I know. All they see is a 2 minute scene on TV. They don't see the 6-10 different angles of shooting. The 8-12 hrs that can go into that scene. All they see is "how hard can it be to stand there for a few minutes?"

I have taken the bold leap so many of us desire. I have decided to pursue my writing career full time. I quite my job, moved across the country, and have begun a new life as a writer. I take drastic measures to have exciting experiences and content to write about. This is the life I have chosen and I'm happy to share this with a new community. If there's one community that understands our struggles it's the writing community. As of recently I am working on polishing a script and exploring the new city I reside in. I am much more personable in person or in the characters I write. I am old school in a sense I love writing everything by hand, so social networking and an online introduction is complicated. Now I should be 100% complete. Introduce yourself to me. And tell me about your ambitions. After all, us writers have to stick together and create a supportive community. Thanks for reading.
Thanks Carlos. I'm glad to know there are others making bold moves toward our dreams. I wish you good luck in your career.
Steve with the mic drop!
Welcome to the community, LeAndra!
