About Jeffrey
Jeffrey Hirschberg’s greatest accomplishment was winning the Brookside Elementary School Spelling Bee – obliterating his long-time rival, Leonard Presberg.
Since then, he wrote, produced, and directed “Maxed Out” (2012) – an R-Rated comedy short, and “Why Can't They All Be Like Johnny Depp?” (2014) – a comedy short co-produced by Killer Films and Southampton Arts' 20/20/20 program. The shorts are being developed as feature films and were Official Selections at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival, NY Shorts Fest, and the NYLA International Film Festival.
His feature script for “Why Can't They All Be Like Johnny Depp?” was a winner of the WGA Screenplay Reading Series and his book, “Reflections of the Shadow: Creating Memorable Heroes and Villains for Film and TV” (2009), was published by Michael Wiese Books. A member of the WGA and Friars Club, Jeffrey has written for Showtime and ABC.
Jeffrey is also an Associate Professor, Director, and founder of the Television and Film Arts program at SUNY Buffalo State. He earned a B.S. from Cornell University and an M.A. from Syracuse University's Newhouse School. He lives with his wife, three boys, and dog Al (named after Alfred Hitchcock) in Upstate New York.
