About Carlton

I was born and raised in Hawai‘i but have also lived in Cleveland, Ohio, for a year and in Las Vegas, Nevada, for three years (2000-2003). I now live in Central O‘ahu in Hawai‘i.

I was a volunteer organizer in the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Hawaii for many years, including one year as General Chairman.

I started my own production company, Sozopo Entertainment, LLC. Sozopo is a combination of a Japanese word and a Hawaiian word. I am more into narrative filmmaking. I am a writer-director-producer who also edits on Final Cut Pro when necessary.

I am a member of the Hawaii Filmmakers Collective and was part of its inaugural Producers Lab in 2020.

I have written 12 feature scripts and 12 short scripts so far. Unfortunately, I wrote my feature scripts on Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 (32 bit), and I couldn't access them after I upgraded my iOS to Catalina and then to Big Sur, which are 64-bit. Since then, I switched to Final Draft. I am waiting for Screenwriter 6.7 to be released, so I can transfer my files to Final Draft.

I directed and produced three shorts in 2017, dropped out for a while and then did one more short on Zoom in 2020. Once I get fully vaccinated, I plan to resume live production. Since I am the full-time caregiver for my father, I have to be very careful.

I am in the process of writing a micro-budget feature script.

In late May, I plan to pitch my short script, "The Heart That Binds," to the Hawaii Filmmakers Collective. I hope to shoot it this summer and submit it to film festivals. See below for the logline.
