Storyboarding your movie - best apps or software?

Hi,

Your probably a traditionalist - you use pen and paper to sketch out your ideas, thumbnails and storyboards. But if you are an early adopter or tech-savy person, perhaps you use an ipad app, online software or digital drawing program that works for you.

Please do reply with your favorites - I'd l...

Hi Jean.. I'm new with storyboarding. I've played with a few apps here or there but normally print out templates and draw by hand. Guess I'm the traditionalist.

Although there are so many to choose fro...

You can also do it in a program like photoshop. Create shot windows, copy and paste shadows and heads of people into shot window. Can be time consuming if you're not good with the software though.

A number 2 pencil and a sketch pad costs a lot less than $300.00.

Bethany Brandt
First Time Filmmaker

Hello,

I'm starting off making my first movie, which will be suspense. I will be doing a lot of it myself with very little budget. I plan on renting a few lenses and lights, but is there any huge pointers for me? I really don't want this to look like a low quality production.

Yes, a vague and all encompassing question, I know.

Great advice guys: A first time filmmaker, recently out of school, wants to make a low/no budget suspense film. Certainly flying herself, crew & equipment to Europe should be within her budget - yeah?...

I have been talking to my local film commission and they have been pretty helpful in credits, locations, and resources.

Doug, I tried to view your video, but it was down at the time. I'll take a look again in a bit.

Bethany - I just checked - it's still there. Diana (about your age), made this with her sister & friend, I promoted it in some festivals and showed it to some folks I know. She is now a working actress in Hollywood with a role in a substantial new project.

Robert- you seem to want to send folks off to view other's work. That's all well & good to a point but what can you learn without being able to discuss the work with the creator? Just my pov but if yo...

Script Decision

Hey guys. I'm wondering what is a better option as a first-time screenwriter when I have a final version of my script. Is it wiser to try to pitch and sell the script to a studio for production and distribution, or is it more beneficial to try and finance independently and complete the entire film m...

If you can find the money and you want total creative control then it's wiser to do it independently. If you are looking to build your career as a writer then it's wiser to sell to a studio. My experi...

I think you should find financier for your script to produce film its wiser and in this way you can make justice with your script and you can establish your self.

I'll be brutally honest with you Asha, the chances of a writer attracting any interest in their first script through pitching are almost non-existent and you'd probably have better odds of winning a l...

Since Asha didn't answer my question and this IS posted in "Directing" I agree with Pierre. His best option to become a director is to direct movies. So selling the script isn't a wise choice.

Rajjat R Kaul

It entirely depends on your vision for the script. If you sell it, you don't know whats going to be out there and If you make it by yourself, Its going to be a learning experience. Just shoot the firs...
