I'd like to post a little update regarding The Locksmith, my graphic novel series based upon my original screenplay. The Locksmith #1 was successfully kickstarted - raising 219% of its goal. The Locksmith will be digitally distributed on Comixology and should be available shortly. It is already up on ComicsFix -- The netflix of comic/graphic novel distribution. Queries are out to several print publishers. Cross your fingers! I've also launched the project on Patreon as an experiment. This is a different kind of crowdfunding site, that I hope to use in conjunction with kickstarter. Patreon offers more of an ongoing relationship/interaction between Creators and Patrons. It gives interested parties the opportunity to support the ongoing business of creation -- In my case, with The Locksmith, it's the per-page cost that has been self-financed. In return, Patrons are given first looks at the entire creative process, from word to sketch to finished page. I have two other graphic novels ready to go into production: "Spanish Moss" and "A Greater Good" (also adapted from my original screenplays). Patreon has the potential to allow me to work on these other projects, simultaneously with The Locksmith. It's actually a pretty cool site, with some high profile creators, working in a variety of mediums. Nevertheless, I will continue to kickstart the printing and distribution costs of each subsequent Locksmith issue. Look for The Locksmith #2 in a couple of months! Cheers! Terrance

Last year, I went through several drafts of my screenplay, "The Locksmith" with my manager at Zero Gravity. After an initial flurry of activity... The shark-infested waters around it, began to recede. I looked for another route to get it into production. That's when I decided to backup and turn it into a graphic novel... First as a means to promote it; and secondly as a means to explore unchartered territory (for myself). After putting together a comp -- the first two scenes and a critical midpoint scene... I decided to go for it and create a kickstarter campaign to finish what is projected to be a 130 page, full color graphic novel. I'm having a blast... And actually have been contacted by two production companies with serious creds, since launch. Nothing firm, just wanting a look at the source material. Which brings me to my discussion topic: Chicken or Egg. What came first? While adapting the script into this new medium, I found the process invaluable in focusing action and character development, sharpening dialogue and even opening up new channels, that I never thought of before (and that's after 6 drafts). I could even see taking this through a 7th draft, once the GN is completed.
