About Sharon

Four time Emmy Award Nominated, winner of the 2013 Society of Composers and Lyricists Award for her “Outstanding work in the Art of Film Music” and the 2012 Visionary Award In Music by The Women’s International Film & Television Showcase, Composer Sharon Farber has received critical acclaim as a Film and Television composer. She brings to her music influences from her Middle Eastern heritage as well as her extensive knowledge of numerous musical genres.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College Of Music, Sharon has been working with networks and cable broadcasters like NBC, CBS, Showtime and the WB as well as scoring feature films. She worked with famed composer Shirley Walker on the WB TV series “Batman” and Superman” and won the Telly Award for best score for California 2000. Sharon scored the powerful documentary “Honor Diaries” which won many awards, as well as the features “The Dove Flyer” and the psychological thriller “Children of the Fall”. Her orchestral score for the film “When Nietzsche Wept” (Milennium Films) was commercially release. She has recently completed the score for Mike Burstyn’s feature “AZIMUTH”.

Upcoming features include a slate of films for Aegis film group- Jemiyah Jones and The Kingdom of Nir” and “Mata Hari- Her True Story”. She is also attached to score “The Dark Return of Time”, starring Eric Roberts and “Pendragon” TV series.

In the concert world, Sharon has many national and international premiers and performances to her credit, including performances and commissions by the Los Angeles Master Chorale, the Laguna Beach Music Festival, Pacific Serenade Ensemble, Orange County Women’s Chorale, Culver City Symphony Orchestra, The Jewish Symphony Orchestra, The International String Quartet of Yucatan and iPalpiti Artists International.

Her latest acclaimed work, commission by The Glendale Philharmonic Orchestra, Bestemming - Concerto for Cello, Orchestra and Narrator -is scheduled to be performed at the United Nations in NY next year.


Last year Sharon was featured at the “Women Who Score: Soundtracks Live” concert in Los Angeles, where she conducted a montage of her recent work entitled “Flight of Redemption”. According to the International Film Music Critics Association, “Israeli-born composer Sharon Farber wowed the crowd with a suite of music from three of her scores – Children of the Fall, When Nietzsche Wept, and The Dove Flyer – the latter of which featured spectacular performances by soloists Navid Kandelousi and Sirvan Manhoubi.”
