I recently graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and am currently working at Macy's in Walla Walla, WA. I started this journey wanting to be on the stage (which is still true because I miss singing...kind of A LOT), but on the way, I found quite a bit of pleasure working behind the scenes. During my time at CWU, I was educated in just about everything, but usually found myself in the scene and costume shops. While I still enjoy wielding power tools (and am actually not too bad at it), costuming is where I found most of my joy. Costumes have always been my favorite part of theatre design and I would love to make them for a living. The clothes really do make the man. I am a big believer that a costume can give so much information about a character without even saying a word. I am not a designer (at least not yet) and I'm still a learning stitcher, but I am always willing to improve my skills. Besides sewing costumes, I also learned how to make other crafty costumey items, such as jewelry and masks. This road has been, and is still going to be, a very long one, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Theatre is magic and I just want to be a part of it.
