Timothy Swiney was born in a small town in the Appalachian Mountains. After receiving a degree in Neonatal Respiratory Therapy he moved to Durham, NC where he worked as an Emergency Care Supervisor at Duke Medical Center.
After a successful career in the medical field, Timothy and his partner became foster parents in Georgia, eventually adopting two young siblings. After the adoption, Timothy moved his family to Punta del Este, Uruguay in South America so his children could explore their heritage and learn the language of their biological ancestors. During their three years in South America, Timothy and his family appeared on the HGTV’s House Hunter’s International.
While living in Uruguay, Timothy took the opportunity to return to his lifelong dream of writing. He has written and published three novels each with a corresponding screenplay adapted from the books. Timothy has written a total of six feature length screenplays, one of which is optioned for production with a Uruguayan based studio. He has received recognition through multiple screenwriting contests including:
