Agree with everyone above me here. Use the resources offered here, as webinars, classes, consulting, and most importantly Pitch sections. I recommend the live ones, but keep in mind you only get 8 minutes, so know your screenplay inside out. Good luck.
That's simple. Just develop a compelling story with unique characters that has broad audience appeal. Script it in a generally accepted industry standard format and take it wide on the strip. Or start small and work your way up.
