I am a native of Colorado who has a twin sister and a brother who helps out on the ranch when needed. My dad visits the ranch often and also helps out with chores and tends to the animals. I have worked as a licensed practical nurse in many different areas of the health-care field. I received received an award from FedEx Express for outstanding support and service. I have a patent certificate for my invention, Computer Buddy. I live on a ranch in Eastern Colorado and care for rescue horses, rescue dogs, and in the past, cattle. Even though some of these rescues have had their struggles, I won’t quit until they are back to total health, which includes physical as well as emotional well-being. A longstanding fan of the Denver Broncos, who were the Super Bowl 50 world champions. On Saturdays I never misses an episode of Pit Bulls and Parolees. Merlin never misses an episode either. An animal lover of all critters no matter the make, breed, big or small. The “bully breeds” hold a special place in my heart. I have owned and rescued rottweilers ever since I moved out to the ranch twenty one years ago and have never had less than three with me. Five years ago I decided to add a Pit Bull to the mix and rescued Merlin when he was six weeks old. At Christmastime I make and sells Santa Dust to raise money that I donate to a shelter or rescue.
Trying to get my most recent book off the ground-The Pit Bull Wizard, Volume: Animals of Asgard. This story has a very commercial hook that appeals to a broad audience and has prospects as both a book series and a movie(s)
Merlin, an adopted pit bull that discovers he has magical powers and enrolls in a secret training school for animal wizards in hopes of using his newfound powers to find his missing pit bull family. In the Hogwarts-style school for magical animals, Merlin makes new friends and enemies. He takes a variety of classes – from telekinesis to human relations - is challenged to become part of the Celestial Animalympics team. During his journey, he and his two best canine friends uncover the many human-created evils that animals are forced to endure, leading to a climactic confrontation with the pit bull-hating humans who’ve captured Merlin’s brother – and ultimately, a clue to his mother. The story also features empathetic characters and fun possibilities, such as the unique ways an animal might have and use magical powers. It also has a strong message in that it re-frames pit bulls in a more positive light than they are often cast in society. Middle grade novel, which you might think of as “HARRY POTTER” with dogs, approx 36,800 words. Who doesn’t like magic and dogs?
