Welcome Jody! Since you are from Chi-town, have you tried Eleven City Diner off of South State? One of my favorite places to hang around and feel creative!

Jody Solomon

Jordan Smith sorry, I meant to reply to you! I have been to Eleven City Diner, great place!

Scripts from the 70's vs today

This month I've been reading scripts from some of my favorite horror/thriller films. Early in October, I started reading the original 'Amityville Horror' and was surprised by how different it was in every way to most scripts I've read. I don't know if anyone here has any backstory to it or not, but...

I would highly recommend reading both versions of the script for "Alien" (1979). An early draft by Don O'Bannon and the other by Walter Hill and David Giler. Both can be easily found. You'll get an opportunity to review two contrasting styles of writing.

Jessub Flower

^ second on "Alien."

Carol Chang

Sorry to jump in here. Can one of you recommend where I can download movie scripts?

Jessub Flower

Two that are awesome: 1 is "Weekend Read" (a John August app look in apple store) small fee but totally worth it. Goes well with his Scriptnotes Podcast and has a lot of recent scripts. Second is simplyscripts.com, but you have to weed through some of them (don't think all are legit)

Thanks!

Someone may be interested in my writing.

More hopefully Good News. My partner hasn't heard back from the man who was interested in our horror movie, but he has been busy. But the other good news is someone has looked at one of my scripts; a zombie spoof. No guarantees, but I'm hoping.

David E. Gates

I don't think Daybreakers is a spoof.

Lance Ness

Most zombie movies aren't spoofs, they're just stupid. How do you think I came up with such a concept and great comedy? By watching the bad ones. They exist in abundance.

W Keith Sewell

lol... genius! When in doubt - bring in the Zombies!

Lance Ness

Jeff Gregory - If you have a suggestion I'm listening.

Lance Ness

A year? Rats. Well it beats never

Hi all!

I had to take some time looking around this site to make sure it wasn't trying some secret-ninja way to sign me up for something. Looks like a lot of fellow creatives around here on the same journey. I'm down. Hope to meet a lot of you!
