About Julia

Hello! I am a young film maker who is currently working full-time as a freelance Production Assistant. I have had the chance to work a large variety of jobs, such as Reality Television shows, documentaries, music videos, commercials, still photo shoots and live events for networks such as NBC, HBO and TLC.

I am looking to learn as much as I can about all aspects of production, including lighting, lenses and blocking and hope to work towards being behind the camera eventually.

Before I began my transition into production, I built a career in International Development focused on working towards issues I feel passionately about such as social inclusion, environmental justice, and human rights. My ultimate goal is to make documentaries on these topics.

Unique traits: SET PA: Flagging/lock-downs, ensuring charged bricks are always available, talent/extra/animal (goat, dog, horse, etc.) wrangling, crafty, securing release form/contracts/W-9s, art department and set design assistance, license and ability to drive large vehicles such as a cargo van, set-up and break-down of equipment, loading trucks, placing mics on talent and monitoring audio levels, blocking, house relations. CAMERA PA: Setting up/storing/breaking down c-/combo stands, apple boxes/dana dolly slider setup, gobo heads, assisting Camera Op with scoping out and shooting B-Roll, transporting tripods, setting up 1x1 Litepanels and 1000 watt tungsten-balanced light, adding diffusion, changing bulbs to create optimal lighting, muslin/reflective materials, holding balance reflector boards, connecting stingers in safe places, script supervision, managing clapper board, marking blocking with gaffer tape, operated behind-the-scenes camera (Canon w/Rokinon lens). OFFICE PA: Performed a broad range of clerical assistance, catering, A/V, scheduling, booking travel, drafting budgets, supervising interns, researching drone flying laws, cataloguing and locating rolls of film and audio from archives, outlining drone paths, organizing logistics for pick-up/drop-off of props, drafting call sheets and shot lists, securing permissions from and scouted locations, listing crew positions on various film websites, interviewing and selecting crew, securing production insurance, creating singular platform for all shoot information, drafting releases.
