proximity paradox.
Her explorations are triggered by a fascination to the meeting point of contradictory forces. The internal being at odds with the external, the microcosm at odds with the macrocosm which results in projects that are concerned with topics such as loss and preservance of African languages within the digital realm, or dealing with the fineprint on products which are rarely userfriendly in a "consumer-driven" world.
Apart from conceptualising, writing, directing, shooting and editing independent projects and freelance work, Yasmin manages and produces media for AIMS South Africa, belonging to the rapidly expanding AIMS network which has as its prospective to build science in Africa. Before this she earned a Bachelor of Fine Art in New Media Arts at the University of Cape Town, after a well-rounded background in the performing and visual arts.
P.S.: When not on a shoot, Yasmin is a passionate fencer and coaches at the University of Cape Town.
