I’m an experienced actor and, the Goebel Center is considering allowing me to sponsor a seminar which could lead to a regular workshop for acting skills. I would be pleased to share space with actors from the Thousand Oaks area in California.

It would be a place to do in de...

Extra Work

Does it hurt your chances to be taken as a serious actor if you continue to do "extra" work? Has an extra ever been "discovered?"

Phillip Ramirez

Why 50% of Actors don’t get cast

Hopefully this might help and encourage some actors out there. This is the true story of what happened when we cast a feature film recently and why 50% of the actors didn't even get a look in.

Ugh. So sorry to hear this...

That said, I've heard Casting Directors at all levels and in all markets deal with this problem. I have a friend in Casting in LA and she says that actors will submit tape...

So true, Matthew. It's very frustrating and I would say we sometimes get half the submissions which have not followed the (simple) requirements we ask for. Some actors are doing themselves no favours at all here!

Steve James

To misquote Wayne Gretzky: "You don't get booked 100% of the time for auditions you don't attend." Same can be said for any submissions you don't submit!

Sandra Weston

And then there must be hundreds of actors like me around LA. I submit to every single opportunity my agent offers. I learn the lines, My setup is decent and although my only reader is my insurance exe...
