About Ana

I'm a screenwriter, copywriter and creative writer. I'm a part time baker and full time Portuguese.

I've been working in Portuguese television for the past 20 years, either writing (game shows, sketch shows, small cable tv series, big entertainment,...) and/or assisting the show runner or head writer. My most recent works include being head writer of an infotainment tv show called "Programa Cautelar", scripts for "MasterChef Portugal" and for the first Portuguese vegan cooking show "Veggie" (SIC Mulher), script for game shows like "Mental Samurai Portugal", "Game of Games Portugal", 3 years in the writer's room of a primetime sketch comedy show and 3 years as head writer of a infotainment show that aired in RTP (Portuguese Public Channel).

I am part of the Social Entities of the Portuguese Association of Screenwriters and Play writers (APAD). I am also a member of the Portuguese Author's Society (SPA).

I also teach Comedy Writing (at "Escrever Escrever") and Narrative Techniques and Comedy Writing (at "Restart"), both schools in Portugal. I also offer Script Services to some production companies, formatting TV shows proposals and show bibles.

I started my working days in advertising, and I still write corporate events and copy (Brands I've worked on: Vodafone, Siemens, Holliday Inn, Nestlé and several other Portuguese brands and companies)

Unique traits: Unlike in the US, in Portugal there is usually a person on set helping the director with the actors. Meaning the director works with the director of photography in terms of visuals and the technique and camera movement... and then there is an "Actor Director" (Direcção de Actores) that works the scene with the actors in terms of emotion, story, dialogue. I have done that several times. In Portugal, one must do a little bit of everything to thrive.

Television by Q Channel Screenwriter, Script Coordinator Camada de Nervos was a sketch comedy show that aired on "Q Channel" between 2013 and 2014. The "Q Channel" was owned by "Produções Fictícias", the main Writing Agency in Portugal for over 20 years.
5 Para a Meia Noite (2012 - 2013)
Television by Videomedia Screenwriter, Script Coordinator 5 Para a Meia Noite was a Portuguese talkshow that aired every week night on RTP (Portuguese Television Public Channel), each night with a different host. I was responsible for the Wednesday show, hosted by Portuguese star Nuno Markl.
